📆 What is your refund and rescheduling policy?
- 48+ hours before tour: Full refund
- 24–48 hours before tour: 50% refund
- Less than 24 hours or no-show: No refund
If we cancel and reschedule: The 48-hour policy applies from the new date. If the new date doesn't work, you must request a refund within 48 hours of the reschedule notice.

How to request a refund or reschedule:
Text 231-420-6168 with your name, order number, and reason. We do not issue refunds automatically — a quick text creates a record and helps us stay organized during busy weather windows.

🧺 What should I bring?
- Water bottle
- Flip-flops are fine — just no strappy sandals
- Light jacket or windbreaker
- Sunscreen & sunglasses
- Bug spray (especially for night tours)
- Headlamp (optional, for night tour)
- We provide dry bags!
🛶 Do you use tandem or single kayaks?
We use tandem kayaks by default — they’re more stable and easier to steer thanks to built-in rudders. If you have prior sea kayaking experience, your guide may allow you to paddle a single kayak.
📏 Tour requirements
- Skill Level: Easy
- Duration: 2 hours / 4 miles round-trip
- Weight limit: 30 lb minimum, 300 lb maximum
🌦 What happens if weather looks bad?
We never force you onto a different tour. If weather cancels your trip, we offer a choice: reschedule, switch tours, or get a full refund — no pressure. Houghton Point has a much lower cancellation rate (about 10%) than west-side tour sites (which cancel ~50% of the time).
👨👩👧 Are kids and beginners welcome?
Absolutely! Most of our tours are beginner-friendly and safe for kids. The Night Tour is great for families with children ages 5 and up. We give a safety briefing and paddle intro before launch, and our calm water routes make paddling easy and enjoyable.
